Web Browser Compatibility
Follow this link for a quick test of browser compatibility.
Most pages on this web site will work with any "version 4" or later browser.
In practice, this means any browser released since 2000.
JavaScript is required by the search form and the result reports. Cookies are used for various purposes:
- To save the contents of the User name and Email fields in the search form
- To save search form defaults
- If Mascot security is enabled, to save the session information
If saving cookies is not supported or disabled, it will be necessary
to re-enter this information every time it is required.
The Protein Family Summary makes
more demanding requirements on the browser than other forms and reports.
The following table lists the minimum fully supported version of each supported
browser. Older versions may work, but with fewer features or some layout
problems.
We recommend upgrading your browser to the latest version or downloading
a supported browser from the links in the first column.
Internet Explorer 6, 7 and 8 do not support SVG graphics by default.
We recommend installing
Adobe SVG
Viewer. Internet Explorer 9 and later have full SVG support.
Some Linux distributions ship with a rebranded version of Firefox or SeaMonkey;
popular brand names include Iceweasel, Iceape and BurningDog. Recent versions
of these browsers are fully compatible. Other browsers using the Gecko
rendering engine (which is used by Firefox) are also fully compatible. This
includes browsers such as Epiphany, Galeon and K-Meleon.
If you are using an alternative interface to Internet Explorer, such as Avant
Browser, GreenBrowser, Maxthon or Sleipnir, note that the compatibility depends
on which version of Internet Explorer is installed on your system.
